A ton of small thumbnail to find which is the best poses to sell your story.
Planning your shot before animate.
Thumbnailing to find the best solution before animate.
keep open and see which one the fit your situation
Rough pass(layout)
After thumbnail do a rough layout pass(character layout and environment layout)
The layout should show rough environment and the brief path or key of where the character is
Golden pose/ Story key
I will say after Thumbnail you will pick some pose, and some of those will be your story key.
A major key in animation which is the point story change. when you put those pose together people can easily understand the story.
Simply the poses(limited it), try to don't use the pose which the pose telling the same thing at the same time.
Key, Break down(rough)
Now you have a rough story outline. Using those golden poses as a basis to identify what is your key, breakdown.
So the golden poses can be a key or breakdown. this step more like put the golden key to where they belong, and add more key or breakdown if needed.
contact, extreme poses first
some of the offset decision is happen in break down
Tied down, In-between
make the rough drawing more clear and add the in-between frame to make the animation complete.
Richard Williams:
Thinking about the most important things in your animation first
Then the secondary thing
Then the third thing
etc
Then add any flapping bit, drapery, hair, fat, breasts, tail..etc

所以這裡是想要討論大致上做2D動畫的流程。
因為最近學到一個新的概念,叫做 : golden pose,想說搭配之前學到的再來整理一下。
整個流程有點像是一開始由大方向的是探索,大方向的執行,然後後面才慢慢濃縮簡化。
所以流程大略為:

一開始就是探索階段,會開始繪製很多thumbnail 去思考怎麼樣pose可以最清楚的表達故事。
*thumbnail: 很小的草圖,可以很潦草,小而清楚的表達出pose是重點。這個步驟是為了更有效率的探索更多的pose可能性。

有了thumbnail接下來就是計畫layout
你的角色要在怎麼樣的環境,把環境的草圖帶出來
把角色放進草圖裡面
這個layout可以是大概角色會行進的路線,或是主要的key
目的是給你一個大方向的概念你的角色會怎麼樣活動在這個環境裡面
Golden pose/ Story key
經過上個步驟,勢必會挑出一些不錯的pose出來,這些pose之中有些可能可以成為你的 Golden pose.
Golden pose是一些可已經清楚表達你故事的重點pose,也可以說每個訊息的轉換點。有點像漫畫,每一格的漫畫都有著他們要傳達的訊息,這些訊息不會太重複,但每一格都要傳達得清楚。
所以盡量讓這些pose的數量簡化,不要用太多一樣的意思的pose在同樣的地方,用最少的個數傳達清楚的訊息。

經過上面一步,你大概有一個方向了,所以接下來就開始整理了。
看看這些golden pose哪一些事key, 那一些是break down,也有可能需要再補充更多的key, 或是break down 來讓故事闡述得更完整。
一些讓局部身體部位錯開的決定,往往在break down 裡面會看到

讓線條更緊實、清楚,加入更多的中間張讓動畫更完整
